Good morning Finger Lakes folks! It’s Friday so that means there must be some sort of event going on this weekend at local Finger Lakes wineries. This weekend it’s Cheese and Wine. Cheese and wine is a ticketed event. Those tickets can be purchased here: http://springwineandcheese.eventbrite.com/
If you want a fun and great experience on the Seneca Lake without paying for a ticket, I recommend this game plan:
- Lakewood Vineyards
- JR Dill
- Clear your pallet at Two Goats and get some local PBR
- Hector Wine Company
- Hazlitt’s Winery
- Finish it off at Bagley’s Poplar Ridge
Short list but loads of fun and quality wines too. Lakewood’s Cab Franc is especially amazing this year. If you have a sweet tooth then Niagara will be your friend. At JR Dill, try their DeChaunac. Their sweet delight is Jabber Waulkie. Hector Wine Company is a new winery, built as of Fall last year. Their Merlot is especially yummy and their newly bottled Lake Rat White will be an easy favorite for all you sweetums. Hazlitt’s is famous for their Red Cat but they make much more than that. I recommend their Cab Sauv and Gewurztraminer. For a sweeter taste of Hazlitt’s wines, yeah there’s Red and White cat, but I recommend their White Stag and Cabin Fever. Last but not least, Bagley’s Poplar Ridge! Here, there is a plethora of great wine! It’s hard to choose favorites but after much thought (and tasting), be sure to try Dave’s Big Red and all you sweeter wino’s will love their Bodacious Blanc.
Enjoy your tastings at Finger Lakes wineries! If you have a ticket for the Cheese and Wine event, have fun. More importantly… document your travels!
