July 3rd was the soft opening of Magnus Ridge winery in Rock Stream, NY. Located between Lakewood Vineyards and Glenora, this gem of a winery was a great sight to see.
This winery is simply beautiful. I walked in and was enthralled by the decor.
The Magnus Ridge tasting room was rolling with people enjoying wines. I decided to check out the Waterlilies Cafe while waiting and was greeted by Chef William.

Chef William at Magnus Ridge
The cafe area was wonderfully decorated just like the tasting room. It had a warm summery feel with these awesome salt/pepper clickers.

It's the little things I love =)
If you’re looking for an excellent experience and delicious food, be sure to check out the Waterlilies Cafe. Now on to the Magnus Ridge wines!
Matt, Sandy (the owners of Magnus Ridge), and Nick were pouring the goods on opening day. Tastings cost $3.00 for 7 different wines. The pours were heavy since the wine bottles weren’t covered with the usual wine bottle pourer lids. So be sure to visit soon before they remedy that! Again, it’s the little things that made this visit so enjoyable.
The tasting starts out with Chardonnay, then Pinot Gris, Gerwurztraminer, Dry Riesling, Lemberger, Pinot Noir, and a Sweet Riesling. According to my fellow dry wine drinkers, the Pinots are where it’s at. The Pinot Gris is described as having “a delicate floral aroma and citrus and green apple flavors”. The Pinot Noir was described by a fellow Finger Lakes wine drinker as “rich and full bodied which is very different for Pinot Noirs for this area”. As a sweet wine drinker, I very much enjoyed their sweet Riesling. It was truly delightful! Kudos to Nick for a very polite and engaging tasting experience.
After the tasting, I checked out the dining rooms and the back area of the winery. Since this was a soft opening, not everything was set up fully. However, everything that was set up and displayed was great. Below I’ll include all the other pictures I took at Magnus Ridge. It will be exciting to update this post later on to show the “after” pictures once all the construction is done.

Great job Magnus Ridge winery on opening! Welcome to the Finger Lakes wine community. I’ll be looking forward to my next tasting with you guys. Again, great job.
